Community Wellness and Child-Friendly Schools Initiative in Telangana

Under BPCL’s CSR initiative and implemented by Mahita, the “Fit and Friendly” project in Malakajgiri-Medchel District seeks to transform community health and school environments. The initiative will install 10 open-air gyms in parks and schools, 10 RO water systems for safe drinking water, and ergonomic school furniture, with a total budget of ₹2.5 crore. Targeting one of India’s most densely populated areas, the project addresses challenges from rapid urbanization: limited fitness facilities, unsafe water, and inadequate school infrastructure. By fostering physical activity, ensuring clean water access, and improving learning conditions, the initiative supports national missions like Fit India and Swachh Bharat, promoting healthier, more empowered communities.

How We Solve This Project

Ajaz Rashid, serving as Head CSR and Social Entrepreneurship at Mahita, proactively engaged with Sh. Eatela Rajender, the Member of Parliament from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, to address urgent local needs in health and education. Acting on Mahita’s proven track record and deep community insights, Ajaz presented the “Fit and Friendly” project proposal, emphasizing the transformative impact of open gyms, RO water systems, and ergonomic school furniture for the district. Recognizing the strategic importance, Sh. Eatela Rajender endorsed the initiative, leading to BPCL CSR’s sanctioning of ₹2.5 crore for Mahita to implement the project, thus catalyzing community wellness and child-friendly environments in Malkajgiri.

“The Fit and Friendly initiative represents a meaningful collaboration to uplift the health and well-being of our communities. By bringing open gyms, clean drinking water, and improved school infrastructure to Malakajgiri, we are not just providing vital amenities but also nurturing a healthier, more empowered future generation. I am pleased to support visionary efforts like these through BPCL’s CSR, ensuring that our constituency sets an example for inclusive and sustainable development.” Sh. Eatela Rajender, the Member of Parliament Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency
