The APPI-funded initiative for Ummeed – The Hope School, secured a three-year grant of ₹1.15 crore to strengthen and scale services for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in Mumbra, Thane. This strategic funding enables the school the only free special education centre in the region to provide Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for 175 in-school and 70 external PWD students, deliver over 140 speech therapy and 200 physiotherapy sessions monthly, conduct annual capacity-building workshops for students, parents, and teachers, run documentation and health camps, and expand vocational and inclusive programmes. The grant marks a significant milestone in Ummeed’s journey with professional systems, sustainable operations, and a mission to create holistic, dignified pathways for PWD children to integrate into mainstream society.

How We Solve This Project

Ajaz Rashid successfully secured funding for the Ummeed The Hope School project through a strategic, multi-step approach grounded in clear vision, rigorous project design, impactful partnerships, and strong leadership

"What made this partnership special was not just the funding itself, but the collaborative due diligence journey we undertook together with APPI. Their engagement went beyond financing—they actively worked with us to develop robust project structures, realistic budgets, and transparent financial practices. This learning pathway strengthened our organizational capacities and ensured sustainability, making the grant a catalyst for systemic growth rather than a one-time resource infusion."
