GPF in CSR Partnership With Imperial Auto Launched India's First Eco-friendly Library

In a landmark move for sustainable education, the Green Pencil Foundation, in CSR partnership with Imperial Auto Industries, has launched India’s first Eco-friendly Library in government schools across Faridabad. Supported by Jagran Connect as Media Partner and Radio Manav Rachna as Radio Partner, this initiative directly benefits 2,240 students in four government schools, providing access to climate-resilient learning spaces and resources.

The project has received strong support from the Haryana Education Department, District Administration Faridabad, and the District Education Officer (DEO) Faridabad, underlining the importance of integrating sustainability into education.

Each Eco-friendly Library has been designed with solar-powered lighting, bamboo furniture, and vertical gardens made from recycled plastic bottles collected by students. In addition, the libraries feature book banks, digital learning corners, and sanitary pad vending machines, ensuring inclusivity and environmental responsibility.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sandy Khanda, Founder of the Green Pencil Foundation, said:
“Our vision is to empower students with knowledge while nurturing environmental responsibility. Libraries are not just for reading—they are centers for shaping informed and eco-conscious citizens.”

The inauguration also included interactive workshops on climate change, waste management, and sustainable practices, engaging all 2,240 students from marginalized and economically weaker sections. Students took part in tree plantation drives, recycling activities, and plastic reduction demonstrations, making the initiative more experiential.
